Sioux Customs
- Mdewakantons wrapped their dead in skins or blankets and placed them on scaffolds
- Remains were taken to tribal burial grounds
- After a few months or years they'ed be buried in mounds with tools and weapons
- Burials mounds were at least several feet high and up to 60ft in diameter
- Bodies with heads facing south were placed in scaffolds or trees
- Horse might be killed for a dead warrior to use in the next life
- Murder victims were placed face down in the ground
- Mourners cut their hair and slashed their limbs
