Sioux History
- originated along the lower Mississippi river or in eastern Texas
- they moved to the Ohio Valley
- may have been related to the Mound Builder culture of the ninth and twelfth centuries
- still lived in the southeast, between Florida and Virginia
- all were destroyed either by attacks from Algonquin-speaking indians
- some fled and were absorbed by other tribes
- some were sent as slaves
- Dakotas were the last to leave
